NewtOne
Research and Design Direction for multi-console videogame marketing site
Summary
NewtOne was a game rising in popularity and in need of a website experience to match. After conducting usability tests and interviews with potential customers, I created a design concept and direction for the internal developers and designers to move forward.
Aligning to Customer/Market Expectations
The original NewtOne page was missing elements that most competitors were centralizing, such as clear displays of the animation style and an overview of the game story.
Parallax Scrolling and Animation Opportunities
Ari, one of the two team members, is a very talented visual designer and animator. His animations are used throughout the game and give it a lot of its particular charm. Parallax scrolling and other animation techniques provide a platform for the team to showcase the value present in their game, by bringing animations to life within the webpage. The use of parallax scrolling is also prevalent in the videogame marketing world and a common interaction for customers browsing for game information.
Using some of the team’s existing assets, I re-positioned the game to create a more clear target audience and to separate the game from the others on the market by embracing their visual style.
The game continues to grow in popularity and is now available on the Nintendo Switch!
